Corporate Hustle: Did you know that gluten-free products are 242% more expensive than products containing gluten and that the gluten-free market will have grown by $4 billion by the end of 2017? Currently, Americans will spend over $7 billion on foods labeled gluten-free and gluten-free products have jumped from 5 % in 2010 to 11% currently with celebrity endorsements. Even General Mills and Anheuser-Busch are going to promote gluten-free versions of their best selling products.
The placebo effect is a belief that the use of a specific remedy is effective in treating ones symptoms and a gluten-free diet not only treats gastrointestinal symptoms but results in a significant weight loss. Bread, cakes, pies, cookies, pizza, cupcakes, pasta, bagels, pancakes, waffles, doughnuts, beer and cereal which are obesogenic, have been removed from ones diet and replaced with gluten-free products and gluten-free junk food. Either way, these foods contribute to weight gain and their absence would result in weight loss regardless whether gluten-free products are used or not used in their stead.
Instead donating your money to the processed food and beverage industry, why not save it so buy and eat naturally occurring gluten-free foods like meat, fish, eggs, diary products, milk, legumes, nuts, fruits, vegetables, rice, corn, potatoes, buckwheat and quinoa.
